The 26th Annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals opened on Wednesday night at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) with Tim Crawley again behind the wheel of the #88 Mike Ward Racing/Maxim Chassis.
With the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series sanctioning the weekend's events action began with the inaugural Short Track Open at the 1/4 mile oval, which posted a $2,500 winner's check. A stout field of 95 entries registered for battle, and Tim started his night by advancing from the 9th starting spot to claim the win in his heat race, which locked him into the pole position for the 25 lap finale. As the race went green Crawley grabbed the lead, and he led the opening circuits before Johnny Herrera slipped past for the top spot. Over the remainder of the event Tim battled near the front of the pack before crossing the finish line in 4th behind race winner, Danny Lasoski, Johnny Herrera, and Christopher Bell.
Friday night played host to Tim's qualifying night for the 26th Annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals, and it would prove to be a frustrating outing for Crawley. He started deep in his heat race grid after drawing a big number at the pill draw. On the first lap of his heat he was collected in a multi-car incident that resulted in a broken, front end on his entry. As a result he started on the tail of a qualifier and charged to a 6th place finish, which sent him to a b-main, where he started 7th. With only the top two cars transferring to the feature Crawley was only able to manage a 3rd place finish, which left him watching the feature. As a result he will start 12th in a C-main on Saturday night.
Unexpected rain on Saturday not only delayed the finale, but also resulted in a hammer-down, racing surface. As a result Tim would unfortunately fell to advance to the feature.
